Out of the many Durpenay Dara’s (which literally means “Binocular Hill”) in Sikkim this one is special. This is one of the few places that gives you a complete 360˚ view, which means you can see the sunset, sunrise, the mighty Mt. Kanchendzonga and the valley beneath. It is a site to behold that kind of summaries a side of West Sikkim.
The walk to reach Durpenay Dara is easy along the ridge with the valley on one side and the forest on the other. Birds, butterflies and some unique wild vegetation provide perfect company throughout the 45 minutes’ walk. Call it romantic, peaceful, relaxing or just something that you never knew you missed, the walk is sure to touch a cord. Hey! But don’t go by my words feel it to know it.

Dear Rohit,
Firstly thank you for your comment; it’s good to know that you found the blog helpful. July normally is the peak monsoon season but if you don’t mind getting wet you’ll definitely see the beautiful shades of greens and the crazy clouds over the hills. It is a good opportunity to get good photographs and breathe some clean air. Yeh, but the roads tend to get blocked due to landslides and there is no way of predicting if you can reach your destination.
It’s a chance if you do decide to take could be pleasantly surprised.

Hi Sradha,
I am doing a 6 day Sikkim trip (8th-13th Jan). I'm very interested in Paragliding in Chakung and Rafting in Teesta. Would have loved to visit North Sikkim, but since it may be inaccessible during this time, I have decided to visit West Sikkim instead. Plz suggest the best places to include in the trip.
Thanks in advance,
